My Deer

A Photographic Exploration by Chad Nilsson

September 3rd, 2007 · Written by · No Comments

Hailing from Midland, MI, Chad Nilsson isn’t a photography aficionado by any means. But after coming to the realization that the other students in his photography class weren’t going to move beyond portraits of their favorite pets, Nilsson knew he had to raise the bar.

After teaming up with a renowned seamstress he had met by chance, Nilsson decided on an outdoor shoot of her wearing a deer costume she had personally created. He grabbed his Minolta x370 camera and set to work. The resulting photos appeared in a local art show, a photography book, and a display at a local college. The two plan on collaborating again in the future

“We are planning on somehow incorporating fireworks shooting out of our mouths, bird costumes, and a post-apocalyptic series featuring futuristic weaponry, scant clothing, and burnt-out factories,” says Nilsson.
